Goa has seen a 56 percent rise in the income from casinos with the state receiving revenue of Rs 334 crore in 2016-17.
The first ever casino in Goa was an offshore one in the Mandovi River, built during the year 1999. Gambling falls under state government legislation and also contributes a huge chunk of money to the state government revenue. Goa is one of the few states (apart from Sikkim, Daman, and Diu) in India where Gambling is legal.
